Lobby Lounge

Eating cake while sipping on iced chocolate would be my ultimate luxury.  Beating my consicious thought and my crying waistline, I ate the deadly duo at 9pm.

Iced Chocolate

I love iced chocolate that comes with a scoop of ice cream and this is one of them.  By having ice cream inside, it also makes the cream semi hard because it's frozen which, I also enjoy.  I used to think I have a weird taste bud but after tasting the Nitro Puff at the Zeta Bar, I think I'm not so weird afterall because everyone seems to like them too!

Cheesecake

I love cheesecakes but HATE the crust on the bottom.  It totally ruins the soft and moist texture of the cheese bit in a cheesecake.  My mum likes it alot which I couldn't understand why.  Then again, she likes to eat fish skin and the thick, hard crust on sourdough.

Chocolate Eclaire

Is there such a thing call 'too much filling'?  Cream in eclaires are good but too much of them makes me feel groggy afterwards :/

Chocolate Mudcake

Mmm...soft, gooey cake centre with an over the top sweet chocolate icing coupled with cream is such a wonderful thing.  If I ever become diabetic in the future (which I definately hope I don't get), this will be the blame.

And the boring savories...*yawn*

I am guessing this is a toasted ham, cheese and lettuce sandwich.  My memory fails me.

Toasted Ham Cheese and Tomato Croissant

Suuushi!

Finally! Something healthy at last from all those fatty, sweet and oily goodies above.  Sad that the rice is rock hard and cold.  Looks like someone has been in the fridge for too long.

Dinner at friend's house

Invited to my friend's house for dinner and I was amazed at the things she could whip up within an hour.  Shamefully, I don't know how to cook to save my life.  Not that I don't have a talent for it, I never tried to because I am scared that oil will splatter all over my arms and body.  Plus, once you know how to cook, your future/current partner will let you do it for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!

Perfect example? My dad taught my mum how to cook and now she does all the cooking - although I would be surprised if we cooked at home more than once a week.

Back to my friend.

She cooked these wonderful food that I might never be able to create.

Fried Tofu Cubes with Crabstick Sauce

The tofu cubes were fried to perfection with it being crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.  I didn't like the crabstick sauce as much because that moistened the crunchy exterior but the slightly salty sauce combined with the tofu made it a perfect combination (given that you eat it fast enough for the tofu to be still crunchy).

Pork Ears

Pork ears is one of my must buy side dish if I was roaming around the Ashfield area.  The soft and slightly fatty skin sandwiches the soft bone gives you a soft, bouncy and crunchy texture at the same time.

Salmon Sashimi

I love salmon sashimi! Who doesn't? This smart girl froze some water in the dish and wrapped it with cling wrap to keep the salmon fresh and cold.

Smoked Fried Celery with Dried Tofu

Steamed Abalone with Ginger and Shallot

Mmm...abalone...I wish I could have all six of them :/  She over steamed it a little so it was a bit rubbery to chew but it is really hard to steam the perfect abalone because they cook so fast!

Mmm...Crab

I love the crab shell.  I have to have it every time we have crab.  I don't know why  and how people like to crack their legs open but to me, I probably eat more shell than meat because I'm horrible at it!

Criniti's - Southern Italian Cuisine Darling Harbour

Ate at Criniti's on a Thursday but it seems that the day of the week doesn't affect its popularity.

The neverending line

If we came just 5 minutes later, we would've been those suckers LOL!  I even managed to hog a couch in the waiting area while other people stood.  Eventhough we came early, we still waited around 30 minutes for our seat.

Garlic Bruschetta 3 for $7.90

Woodfire Italian bread brushed with garlic butter and parsley.  Doesn't that description make your mouth water already? The bread was nicely toasted with a generous coating of garlic butter and parsley mmm...garlic butter... and man those bruschettas are huge! It kinda made me semi full after eating one of them :( should've saved more room for ribs and pizza.

Caesar Salad $17.90

Cos lettuce, bacon, crutons with parmesan cheese and anchovies.  Some green veggies to the rescue to neutralise all the greasy food.

1kg BBQ Ribs $36.90

Grain fed pork ribs, grilled and basted with Criniti's homemade BBQ sauce.  Oh and it has chippies hidden underneath it!  If you see carefully, you can see some sneaky chips poking out from the bottom.  Sadly the ribs were not as good as Hurricanes.  It was a bit dry and too sweet but it didn't bother our enjoyment of devouring every last bit of it!

50 cm Long Woodfire Pizza

Left: Quattro Stagioni -  ham, salami, artichokes, mozzarella cheese and mushrooms $25.90
Right: Parma - prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, basil and virgin olive oil $24.90

Ahhh~Criniti's famous woodfire pizza.  The dough was light and fluffy.  Nothing like the fast food chains.
Dominos? No way.
Pizza Hut? Eww.
Convectional oven? Whats that!
Woodfire FTW!

I also loved the long list choices...actually, I don't - there was too many choices and choosing just 2 flavours was a really difficult task.  I was really tempted to get the 1 meter pizza but I don't think it was suitable for 5 people.

Chose the above two because I love salami, artichokes, mushroom and.....proscuitto!!<3  When it arrived, I noticed there were several tables that stood up to take a better look.  Now I was really glad it didnt' get the 1m one.

Since I love prosciutto so much, here is a close up :3

Mmm prosciutto

I wonder what a mixture of Italian and Spanish will taste like.  Jamon on pizza sounds nice!

Navigator Brasserie - Rhodes

Oh god~sat directly under orange light!  All the piccies turned out horribly wrong!!!  At one stage I have already deleted it since it was so bad but in the end, I went back to retrieve it from trashcan.

Why do restaurants favour orange and dim lighting? It's a blogger's nightmare!

Wedges $9.95

Caesar Salad with Tiger Prawn and Avocado $18.95

Teriyaki Beef Salad $19.95

Rocket, sundried tomato, olives, spanish onion, capsicum, fetta, pan fried teriyaki veal strips with a balsamic vinaignette and mustard mayonaisse.

Spaghetti Puttanesca $19.95

Smoked salmon, anchovies, capers, chilli, olives, onion in a white wine pink sauce.

Scaloppini Alla Fungi $24.95

Pan seared veal scallops sauteed in white wine, mushroom, shallot in a creme gravy sauce.

Sorry for the lack of words in this post~and even so, I think there are spelling mistakes in this!  Really tired and not in the mood to do anything at the moment.  Hope the (orangy) pictures speak for itself.  Night!

Shu Shin Bou 手信坊

Received a box of mochi~Daifuku to be exact and I couldn't resist not to take snaps of it and showing it off here!

*From Wiki* Daifukumochi/daifuku is a Japanese confection consisting of a small round mochi (glutinous rice cake) stuffed with sweet filling. Since the pronunciation of Fuku (belly) and Fuku (luck) is the same in Japanese, the name was further changed to Daifuku mochi (great luck rice cake), a bringer of good luck. By the end of the 18th century, Daifuku were gaining popularity and people began eating them toasted. They were also used for gifts in ceremonial occasions.

My photography skills fails so so much.  Shaking my head as I try to photoshop them into something better.  In the end, it still looks like shit (yes feel free to laugh at the pic on the right hand side).  I guess you can only make a pretty picture prettier but can't transform an ugly pic to something nice.

Daifuku Gift Set 桃小町礼盒 $4.50 each or $25 for box of 6

Shu Shin Bou's signature Mochi Cake all purely hand made each with their own unique personality. Daifuku is cake based, held together by a thin layer of mochi with a creamy scented mousse, fresh fruits and nutty centre.

Mango

They made this mochi into the shape of a persimmon with a star shaped choccy and orange powder for the finishing touch.  So ultimately cute! Cutting it open was a heart breaking moment for me but I was so glad to eat the creamy mousse, soft mochi and sweet mango filling...mmm...

Vanilla Chestnut

Compared to the Mango mochi, this one didn't wow me as much.  There was too much mousse in comparison with the amount of chestnut the put in.  Eating too much of this is enough to make you feel sick all day.

Black Seseame

First thing I did when I bit into this is to cough.  I think it's just my failness but the fine grind of black seseame sprinkle choked me.  =.=//

Black Forest

It was a tackling job to crack open the hard outer shell and I was disappointed with the inside.  If you see closely, you could see SIX layers of mochi on the bottom.  Talk about cutting on the budget!

Green Tea Red Bean

Must be my favourite mochi out of the six.  The tiny cute leaf floating on a puddle of puree makes it almost too cute to eat.  Green tea and red bean combination = fob haven.  Reminds me of that 'The Fob' waffle set I've eaten at Tip Jar.  Strangely, the mochi is much softer than the previous one.  Maybe this has a later useby date?

Strawberry

Ohh myyy~a peach shaped mochi!!  Underneath, it came with a plastic leafy to make it look more like a fruit.  Cuteness overload!  Inside is a thin layer of cake, dolop of red bean surrounded by strawberry mousse.

Cadbury going Fairtade!

Recent update: Sugarpuffi is now using Twitter!!  I signed up 5 months ago and created one measly tweet so technically, I'm still a newbie.  Please be kind and follow me on twitter >Follow Sugarpuffi<

Received a lovely email from The Online Circle yesterday telling me that my Cadbury Sample Block is on the way to my home and I found it in my mailbox the very same day.

Piccy taken on my lovely pink bedsheets :)

Inside is a Jumbo Sized Cadbury Dairy Milk choccy...just in time for Easter and a letter telling me that Cadbury is now Fairtrade!

For Fairtrade cocoa farmers, Fairtrade Certified milk chocolate means they will receive fair prices and additional investment for social, environmental and economic development in their communities.  This helps to ensure a real difference is made in developing countries by tackling povery through trade, not just through aid.

You can now enjoy your favourite chocolate knowing that you are contributing towards fair pricing and eat without guilt...almost without guilt.

Happy Easter Everyone <3
