It has been a very fun filled and tight scheduled trip with me travelling up to 4 places in a day. My feet was killing me and the sun was melting me but I still managed to come back to Australia alive. Almost. The flight back was a total nightmare with no spare seats to let me move around and caught a terrible cold a day before my departure (so now I'm coughing and sneezing with my throat, lungs and chest hurting like hell).
Starting next week, I will be blogging about my trip every Tuesday (hopefully) and showcase some of the yummy, bizarre and unique foods I've encountered.
So, here is the very belated Jazushi post I have promised almost a month ago. Better late than never!
Tis my first time eating out with lovely food bloggers and like all good food bloggers, we wanted to try everything on the menu. Took us a while to decide on what to eat but luckily, we had a bowl of edamame to nibble on.

Edamame (Complimentary)
Nothing better than a bowl of complimentary edamame beans! It was fortunate for me as this little bowl was moved to my side of the table as the foods arrived. I kept sneaking one in my mouth while we chatted about where to eat next...

Plum Wine (Umeshu) $38/bottle
Ohhh the plum wine is so sweet...me like :D I had a lot of this baby but Viv seems to be a little tipsy after the first two sips...hum...

Green Tea Noodle Salad $13
At a time like this, I would kill for a better camera. No matter what setting I placed it on, the picture still came out grainy and yucky *stands up and goes to smash camera*. Enough complaining about my shit camera. The green tea noodle salad was the favourite dish of the night with everyone loving the light green tea scented noodles laid on a bed of fresh greens and dressed with soy onion dressing.

Sushi Set $24 (regular size)
Chef's selection of seasonal nigiri sushi and nori rolls. Noticed it is plated in a red, white, red, white pattern? The mesmerising colour pattern made it appear even more delicious.

Crispy Soft Shell Crab $23
My heart sunk a bit when this dish was brought to the table. The soft shell crab didn't turn out golden as I expected it would. The brown colour means they reused the oil too many times which gives it a slight burnt taste and also not very healthy for the body. Still, I tried a piece and it was ok. Far from great but edible.

Camembert Tempura $16
Oh my god. Fried cheese fingers. Doesn't the sound of that make your mouth water already? One bite and you can crunch through the light tempura batter and feel the cheese oozing out into your mouth. If you like extra creaminess, dip the cheese finger in the teriyaki cream sauce and give your cholesterol level a hit.

Kakuni 'Kurobuta' Pork Belly $23
All our eyes gleamed with happiness when this dish arrived. The plating of the pork belly cubes made it appear so nice yet our taste buds was about to be disappointed. The pork belly was dry and tough to chew on with the skin very fatty and oily making it feel like you're sipping melted butter. What happened there? We can only wonder.

Green Tea Creme Brulee $10
We wanted a Japanese dessert but the selection for dessert is minimal. The other options was either green tea icecream or red bean which both costs the same so it was more economical to choose the brulee. Plus, we wanted to compare this to the Masuya green tea creme brulee. Overall, I would say the Masuya brulee has a stronger matcha taste and was served warm the last time I went. This came with a scoop of vanilla icecream on a bed of cornflakes?! and the strawberry was cut very cutely. Yes, I'm a sucker for cute things.
We each took turns taking photos with the dessert. Maybe this is a girl thing where we get overly excited over dessert (sweet things in general really).

I am envious of Viv's photogenicness.

Please say tuned every week for my weekly blog about my trip. It's highly interesting, I promise. Now if I can figure out how to put vids on my blog...
