The Meeting Point is a newly opened joint serving Taiwanese market styled foods with a dash of Japanese fusion.
My friends and I was about to go to Wagaya but seeing everyone wanted to go to have dessert at Meet Fresh after, we decided to eat something light so save room in our stomachs.
Roselle tea $4.80 洛神花茶
A truly refreshing drink with a sweet, sour taste and a dash of floralness. Rozelle tea is great for women as it has the effect to give a dewy and glowing skin.
Miso Flavoured Shabu Shabu 和风味噌小火锅 $14.80
Shabu shabu is a Japanese styled hot pot with many variants in flavour. It is similar to sukiyaki but more savoury and less sweet.
Shabu Shabu Condiments
The Shabu Shabu came with a selection of vegetables to be put into the hot pot. I personally love the gigantic oyster mushrooms.
Handmade Seafood and Meat Balls 手工滑浆 $10
Raw seafood and meat balls to be cooked in the shabu shabu - the white balls are seafood and the brown ones are meat. I didn't touch the brown ones so I didn't know what it tasted like but I loved the seafood balls as it was really soft and gummy.
Wagyu Beef 雪花牛肉 $12
When I saw the menu, I pointed to the wagyu and screamed "we HAVE TO get the wagyu!!" Oh baby, look at the pretty marble on the beef.
Stewed Cold Dish Sampler 招牌卤味拼盘 $8.80
A selection of stewed traditional Taiwanese cold dishes consisting of dried tofu, pork knuckle, beef shank and stewed egg.
Taiwan Deep Fried Beef Cheese Ball 酥炸牛肉起司卷 $7.80
Deep fried beef balls with a gooey, melted cheesy centre. It was quite delicious but be careful as the centre is HOT!
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus 培根芦笋卷 $2
I stared at the wrap closely and said in Chinese, "This isn't asparagus, it's kidney beans." Ah well, they wanna be cheap and give us kidney beans and I don't bother to complain so I ate it. The beans, however, are half raw. It's kinda poisonous to eat raw beans so we hailed the waiter over and complained. They gave us the option to recook the dish for us or swap for something else. Since we all ate some bacon (there really is only 2 rolls left lol), we went a little evil and said we want to swap it for the beef tongue.
Beef Tongue 牛舌 $2
And here is the free beef tongue! Hehe :D It is quite easily the best thing I've eaten all day. The meat is really really really succulent and perfectly marinated. I'm so glad I changed it to the beef tongue.
Chicken Liver and Duck Skewer $2
I'm not a liver person...at least I won't eat it other than pate form so I didn't try this. The duck skewer is ok. The skin was a bit dry but the insides were still moist. Overall, it was quite flavoursome.
