The Meeting Point 甲乙丙丁

Blah~I broke my newly set resolution already - I didn't blog for 12 days :/  I've been really busy lately and just want to collapse on my bed when I get home each day.

The Meeting Point is a newly opened joint serving Taiwanese market styled foods with a dash of Japanese fusion.

My friends and I was about to go to Wagaya but seeing everyone wanted to go to have dessert at Meet Fresh after, we decided to eat something light so save room in our stomachs.

Roselle tea $4.80 洛神花茶

A truly refreshing drink with a sweet, sour taste and a dash of floralness.  Rozelle tea is great for women as it has the effect to give a dewy and glowing skin.

Miso Flavoured Shabu Shabu 和风味噌小火锅 $14.80

Shabu shabu is a Japanese styled hot pot with many variants in flavour.  It is similar to sukiyaki but more savoury and less sweet.

Shabu Shabu Condiments

Vegetable Selection

The Shabu Shabu came with a selection of vegetables to be put into the hot pot.  I personally love the gigantic oyster mushrooms.

Handmade Seafood and Meat Balls 手工滑浆 $10

Raw seafood and meat balls to be cooked in the shabu shabu - the white balls are seafood and the brown ones are meat.  I didn't touch the brown ones so I didn't know what it tasted like but I loved the seafood balls as it was really soft and gummy.

Wagyu Beef 雪花牛肉 $12

When I saw the menu, I pointed to the wagyu and screamed "we HAVE TO get the wagyu!!" Oh baby, look at the pretty marble on the beef.

Stewed Cold Dish Sampler 招牌卤味拼盘 $8.80

A selection of stewed traditional Taiwanese cold dishes consisting of dried tofu, pork knuckle, beef shank and stewed egg.

Taiwan Deep Fried Beef Cheese Ball 酥炸牛肉起司卷 $7.80

Deep fried beef balls with a gooey, melted cheesy centre.  It was quite delicious but be careful as the centre is HOT!

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus 培根芦笋卷 $2

I stared at the wrap closely and said in Chinese, "This isn't asparagus, it's kidney beans."  Ah well, they wanna be cheap and give us kidney beans and I don't bother to complain so I ate it.  The beans, however, are half raw.  It's kinda poisonous to eat raw beans so we hailed the waiter over and complained.  They gave us the option to recook the dish for us or swap for something else.  Since we all ate some bacon (there really is only 2 rolls left lol), we went a little evil and said we want to swap it for the beef tongue.

Beef Tongue 牛舌 $2

And here is the free beef tongue! Hehe :D It is quite easily the best thing I've eaten all day.  The meat is really really really succulent and perfectly marinated.  I'm so glad I changed it to the beef tongue.

Chicken Liver and Duck Skewer $2

I'm not a liver person...at least I won't eat it other than pate form so I didn't try this.  The duck skewer is ok.  The skin was a bit dry but the insides were still moist.  Overall, it was quite flavoursome.

Mappen - Townhall and Azuma Patisserie

Enjoy your Japanese food cravings self serve style! Menya Mappen allows customers to create their personalised noodles with their own choice of soup base, noodles and toppings.

Four Hungry Food Bloggers met up outside Mappen for a long night of food eating adventures while exercising in between (walking from restaurant to restaurant counted as exercise?) to allow food to digest so we can fit in more later on.

How To Enjoy Mappen

We join the long queue that was snaking around the ordering area and trying to decide on what we are going to get so we don't get repeat orders.  One thing great about Mappen is that the noodles come in two sizes.  No more noodle wastage or fear that the amount is not enough!

Self Serve Tempura

Once you've got your noodles, you can move to the tempura section and get your tempura fix by adding as many or as little tempura you desire.

Rokka Sparkling Fuji Apple $2

Ontama Bukkake Soba $4.90 (Small)

Oh see the cute, fat poached egg sitting happily on top of the soba.  I just want to poke it open and see the yoke ooze over the noodles.

Bukkake Udon $3.90 (Small)

Excuse me if my mind is terribly dirty but the word bukkake always remind me of a very...non noodle related act. *Blushes*

Beef Udon $6.90 (small)

The noodles are filled to the brim for a small size!  Slightly more costly compared to other choices but they give you teriyaki beef slices and a lot more noodles to enjoy.

Zaru Soba $4.50 (small)

This baby is served cold and comes with a Tsukedashi dipping soup.  Perfect for a hot summers day.

Vegetable Kakiage Tempura $2.80, Zucchini Tempura $0.50 and Sweet Potato Tempura $0.60

Everyone chose the small sized option as we had two Sugar Hits after this.  My stomach was already full to the brim.  I really shouldn't have bought so many tempura but I did for the sake of blogging.  Sadly, I didn't get to finish all of my food.

While waiting for 9pm to arrive so we can dash into Azuma Kushiyaki for their Sugar Hit, we went shopping, found my hat for the 'Mad Hatter Spring Picnic' and came back to do some more waiting (with food) at Azuma Patisserie.

Mixed Frozen Yoghurt $7.50 (Large)

We shared a large frozen yoghurt between the four of us and looked at the time every 15seconds to see if it's 9pm yet.  We couldn't wait anymore and barged in 10minutes before 9.  They were a bit surprised but still happily seated us while they brought out the menu.  Click to continue reading about the Sugar Hits :)

Christmas Cruise

Whooh so I'm blogging 'frequently' again. Or, at least trying to.  Every year I have this so called 'New Year Resolution' thing but never lived up to it.  Not even for a month.  Did anyone manage to stick to their resolution for an entire year?

My resolution for this year would be:

- Blog more frequently
- Eat more yummy food (this could be done)
- Eat more healthily (this kinda contradicts but whatever)
- Find a good job with good pay
- Move out by March-April

As you can see, most of my resolutions contradicts each other.  How do I find more time to blog if I find myself in a new job? How do I even be able to afford good food after I move out? Yummy food and healthy food doesn't really go well together.  Moving out is totally in my mind and I haven't told my parents yet nor did I even start looking for a place.

So...scratch all that.

Anyway! I went on a private boat for a cruise around the harbour during Christmas time.  They provided slippers for everyone who wore stilettos in fear that we might fall.  I'm too good to do that but they still made me take my shoes off :(

The cruise couldn't get any better.  Free flow of wine and alcohol, a 1:4 staff to guest ratio!!, delicious food with the harbour in the sunset as a back drop andddddddd every guest received a Versace watch as a gift! *faints*

My Versace Watch. So-Friggin-Awesome

People say I look like those Versace representatives on big billboards and posters.  You think?  If I lose another 15kg maybe lol.

Below are all taken with my sexy iphone4.

Opera House and Harbour Bridge

Hello Champagne!

Hello to Chardonnay too!

Bread Roll

Butter

Crab with Avocado and Watermelon Cubes

I don't know how to describe this canape but orgasmic.  Smooth avocado topped with crab and watermelon cubes brings out so many flavours and textures in my mouth at the same time.

Seared Tuna Wrapped in Nori and Dressed with Wasabi Mayonnaise

Looks like a sushi roll but no rice; only the good stuff haha! Who wants the rice when you can have a whole chunk of seared tuna wrapped in seaweed? The dollop of wasabi mayonnaise brings a hit to your taste buds but not overwhelming as the mayonnaise softens the strong taste of wasabi.

Grilled Scallop

Oh fat and juicy scallop how I adore you!  Sad I couldn't scoop up the salad on the bottom with a stick.

Teriyaki Beef

The name said it all.  You can't go wrong with teriyaki beef.  People were taking it 3 sticks at a time because it was so good.

Spinach and Feta Cheese Quiche

You know I'm not a big fan of quiche because I always think it's a tart wannabe and...its savoury! Who would want to eat a salty half tart half cupcake thingy?  Well this one was pretty good! Spinach and feta cheese...match made in heaven.

Buffet Selection of Baby Lobster Moray, Steak, Prawns, Oysters, Salad and Smoked Salmon

Yes, it's baby lobster, not lobster.  The flesh is much more tender, sweeter and soft compared to the grown version.  Oh and it's covered with a layer of gooey melted cheese too :D

Cheese and Crackers with Dried Apricot

Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Fondant and Raspberry Cake

Can I say that all three cakes were awesome? The lemon meringue tart had the perfect amount of zestiness, chocolate fondant was  gooey with an oozing centre and the raspberry cake was moist and soft.  I...had to grab some more...

Beautiful Sunset

Sexy Watch

That wasn't all of Christmas for me.  I obviously ate more during the near 2 weeks of holidays but I didn't take a lot of photos since I was too busy eating and running around :P

SIFF 2010 Sugar Hit at Sheraton on the Park

Happy New Year Everyone!!<333 Hope everyone had a good one and did you went to watch the fireworks? Anyway! While everyone is bidding farewell to 2010 and welcoming 2011 with goodbye posts and new year posts, I, being terribly backlogged is going to blog about SIFF that happened back in October 2010.  I just like to be different. Not really...just lazy :D

So! I dragged the then newly acquired boy to Sheraton on the Park for a SIFF Sugar Hit at 9pm.  There was one other table when we were there and I was slightly embarrassed by the 'too casual' attire that we were wearing that night.  Oh well, we are here for dessert!

The Gallery Tea Lounge at Sheraton on the Park

Brown Brothers Orange Muscat and Flora

The Sugar Hit came with a Brown Brothers Orange Muscat and Flora which was served quickly but the actual dessert came considerably later and I was getting sad because my drink was getting warm.

Tropical Tonka Bean Panna Cotta on Boysenberry and Finger Lime-Infused Compote Served with a Crispy Chocolate Almond Biscotti $20

Finally!! was the initial thought when the waitress brought out the dessert.  The dessert was beautifully plated with two cakes, one upright and one on the side topped with three raspberries and chocolate almond biscotti.  On the other side of the cake is a strip of bright red berry compote which matches the colour of the raspberries to make the plating pull together.

Taste wise, however, was a little disappointing as the panna cotta cake tasted a bit bland for me.  It was definitely delicate and light in texture and flavour but a little too light making it quite tasteless.  The almond biscotti was chewy...stale, instead of being crispy.

Instead of ordering two Sugar Hits, I've decided to order a different dessert. I think ordering the same dessert for many people is quite lame as you can share and taste all the different desserts on offer unless, you are not all that close to the person you are dining with.

Creme Brulee $13? <~ Sorry I can't remember :(

The dessert is presented with a creme brulee in a tart? topped with two biscottis.  On the side is a scoop of pistachio icecream sprinkled with crushed pistachios and a raspberry on each end.

I can't say disappointing but the dessert wasn't all that great either. The tart was a little hard and the creme brulee was served cold.  The biscotti was slightly more crispy than the other dessert but still not up to standard.  The highlight was the pistachio icecream which was creamy and nutty in flavour.

Chocolate Centerpiece

This centerpiece is made entirely out of chocolate! The boy even asked if he could eat it! *embarrassing* but the waitress said that she doesn't think it's edible. Fail to the max.
